Project Management Institute (PMI) is an international not-for-profit organisation which serves more than five million professionals, including 680,000 members in 217 countries and territories across the world. Its services include the development of standards, research, and networking opportunities, through their multiple conferences and provisions of accreditations in project management.
FuturePlus was tasked with empowering PMI employees with the ability to understand and mitigate the ESG impact of their global conferences. Taking an end-to-end approach, this project included the delivery of cross-level and departmental training workshops, data collection templates, and tailed resources. PMI employees were subsequently able to measure the carbon footprint of their global events, taking into account emissions related to energy and gas, food and drink, travel, audience accommodation, graphics and built materials, and waste management.
Equipped with this knowledge and with the assistance of FuturePlus, PMI employees were able to create and implement reduction strategies in the arenas of supply chain mapping, greenhouse gas emissions, circular economy principles, and biodiversity conservation.
